India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) recently celebrated excellence in the jewelry industry by inducting top designers, retailers, and visionaries into its prestigious Hall of Fame during the IIJS Signature Show in Mumbai.

Among this year’s honorees is renowned artist and designer Reena Ahluwalia, alongside industry leaders such as Farah Khan Ali, Titan’s chief design officer Revathi Kant, jewelry historian Usha Balakrishnan, Platinum Guild International’s Vaishali Banerjee, and designer Pallavi Foley. The event also recognized six prominent jewelry retailers who successfully launched IPOs, including P.N. Gadgil, RBZ Jewellers, Motisons Jewellers, Manoj Vaibhav Jewellers, Senco Gold, and Kalyan Jewellers.

GJEPC emphasized that this year’s Hall of Fame focused on visionary women who have significantly shaped the jewelry industry. Ahluwalia, known for her groundbreaking jewelry design techniques and a Guinness World Record-holding watch, expressed her gratitude, stating, “Recognition like this not only honors individual achievements but also inspires our industry to strive for innovation and excellence.”

Ahluwalia’s contributions extend beyond design—she has pioneered technology and blockchain applications in jewelry and has spearheaded impactful global projects. Her advocacy includes design mentorship, fair compensation for artisans, and expanding educational opportunities through workshops and competitions across India, including in remote regions.

Her latest endeavor, Diamond Trails, is an anthology of art and stories inspired by natural diamonds. Featuring five narratives illustrated with her paintings, the collection includes contributions from esteemed writers Avi Krawitz, Shanoo Bijlani, Grant Mobley, and Sonia Esther Soltani.

Reflecting on the recognition, Ahluwalia shared, “Starting my journey in India and now being honored for my contributions feels like a full-circle moment.” With her ongoing dedication to innovation and mentorship, she continues to shape the future of the jewelry industry.
