Model Georgina Rodríguez received a rock of an engagement ring, with her diamond estimated to be 35 carats, experts say
Madrid—Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and model Georgina Rodríguez are officially engaged.
After eight years of dating and raising five children together, the couple announced their engagement in an Instagram post on Monday showcasing her massive ring.
“Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives,” Rodríguez said in the translated caption of her post.
While details of the ring haven’t been revealed, experts have made their best guesses.
Jewelry influencer Julia Hackman Chafé of JewelsWithJules, who is the social media manager and administrative assistant at Intercolor USA, estimated the center stone in the three-stone ring to be a 35-carat, D-color, flawless diamond.
In her Instagram post, Chafé guessed the ring costs about $3 million, noting that Sotheby’s just auctioned a 35.01-carat D-color diamond by Graff for $3.2 million last month.
Designer Stephanie Gottlieb estimated the center stone is an elongated oval cut that is likely between 22 to 30 carats.
It is set in a platinum double-claw prong setting and flanked by two oval-cut diamonds, giving the ring a total close to 37 carats, said Gottlieb.
Based on the size, cut, color, clarity, and rarity, she estimated that Rodríguez’s ring costs between $3 million and $5 million, depending on the exact specifications.
Ronaldo, who captains and plays forward for both Saudi soccer team Al-Nassr FC and the national team in his native Portugal, is the most-followed person on Instagram, with 662 million followers, and has a contract that is estimated to be worth more than $400 million annually.
As a three-stone ring, Rodríguez’s engagement ring reflects one of National Jeweler’s top 5 bridal trends for this year.
Recently, model Winnie Harlow received a three-stone engagement ring with an oval-cut center diamond, as did actress Kaley Cuoco in 2024 and Meghan Markle in 2017.
“Truthfully, her ring is so gigantic that I don’t think many will look to it as a trendsetter. It’s art—not reality,” Chafé said in an email to National Jeweler.
“Other celebrities with gigantic rings still have mimic-able styles. I feel like this one is so out of reach even with gigantic rings that it stands out on its own. And that’s the fun of it!”
Gottlieb noted that oval cuts have been becoming increasingly popular in recent years because the shape elongates the finger.
“When someone with Georgina’s visibility wears a ring like this, it absolutely drives demand. I expect to see even more requests for elongated ovals and three-stone rings in platinum,” Gottlieb said.
“The takeaway for many brides will be to focus on incredible stones with minimal, elegant settings that keep all the attention on the sparkle.”
The oval-cut stone isn’t the only gigantic diamond ring Rodríguez has flaunted on her left ring finger, teasing the engagement via Instagram.
On April 27, the model and influencer posted a picture with a large three-stone ring with what appeared to be an emerald-cut diamond flanked by tapered baguette diamonds.
She continued to post pictures of the ring, stacked with a diamond eternity band, last month, including one picture of it on a plate surrounded by chorizo laid out in the shape of a heart.
