Mining giant Rio Tinto is set to host its 2024 Beyond Rare™ tender in November, showcasing an incredible collection of rare pink, red, purple, and yellow diamonds. This event is Rio Tinto's second "Art Series" auction, featuring 48 exquisite diamonds, including some from the legendary Argyle Mine, which closed in 2020.
"Colour Awakened"—A Collection to Take Your Breath Away
The highlight of this year's auction is the "Colour Awakened" collection, headlined by seven "Classical Master" diamonds. These include stunning round brilliant-cut pink and red diamonds ranging from 0.60 to 2.63 carats. Many of these gems were mined over a decade ago at Argyle, including a showstopper from 1987. Each has been carefully chosen from private collections and will make its dazzling debut at this year's tender.
Unmatched Heritage of Argyle Pink Diamonds
"There's no other miner with such a rich inventory of colored diamonds," says Sinead Kaufman, Chief Executive of Rio Tinto Minerals. "Since Argyle's closure, our Beyond Rare Tender platform has highlighted the prestigious legacy of Argyle Pink Diamonds and the high quality of Diavik products, showcasing the enduring market demand for rare natural diamonds."
A Sparkling Showcase of Gems from the Argyle and Diavik Mines
In addition to the Classical Master diamonds, the Art Series 02 collection also includes rare pink, red, and purple gems from the Argyle Mine and stunning white and yellow diamonds from the Diavik Mine in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
This exclusive collection features a total of 76 diamonds weighing 39.44 carats, including:
- Seven Classical Master Diamonds: Featuring one breathtaking fancy red diamond.
- 32 Exceptional Pink and Purple Diamonds: Including one unique fancy purplish-red gem.
- Nine Carefully Curated Diamond Sets: Featuring highlights such as a 2.47-carat vivid yellow diamond and a 4.04-carat D-color white diamond—both from the Diavik Mine.
