New York — Paola Sasplugas, co-founder and creative director of Barcelona-based jewelry brand PDPaola, has been honored with the Fine Jewelry Award at Fashion Group International’s (FGI) annual “Rising Star” ceremony on April 16.
Although Sasplugas could not attend the event, PDPaola’s North America CEO Jason McNary accepted the award on her behalf. “To be recognized among such visionary talented designers like Tory Burch, Phillip Lim, and Jason Wu is both humbling and inspiring,” McNary said. “This moment reflects the creative vision and relentless passion that Paola pours into the brand, and the bold spirit we bring to the U.S. market every day. We’re just getting started!”
In a heartfelt statement, Sasplugas added: “It’s rare to stop and take it all in—but this recognition gave me that moment. I’m grateful for the journey, the people building it with me, and the chance to keep pushing boundaries. This is only the beginning.”
Hosted by actress Tiffany Haddish, the New York City ceremony gathered top designers, executives, and tastemakers to celebrate emerging talent in fashion, beauty, and related industries.
Founded in 2015 by Paola and her brother Humbert Sasplugas, PDPaola creates “jewelry for urbanites who embrace sophistication, quality, and design.” Today, it is available in more than 60 locations across Europe, the Middle East, and South America, with recent expansion into the U.S. market, including a flagship store in New York City.
✨ Earlier this month, PDPaola launched a fine jewelry collection featuring actress Kelly Rutherford. The campaign showcases her adorned in 18K yellow and white gold pieces set with lab-grown diamonds, alongside elegant swan imagery, symbolizing grace and authenticity.
💎 PDPaola also unveiled a new demi-fine line called “La Perla,” crafted from 18K yellow gold-plated silver and cultured pearls.
Both collections are available now on PDPaola’s website.
