Ecksand becomes one of the few fine jewelers with Canada’s National Mark
Montreal-based fine jewelry brand Ecksand has been awarded the Canadian National Mark, a highly prestigious and tightly regulated designation that verifies precious-metal products are made entirely in Canada using traceable materials and adhering to rigorous quality standards.
To date, fewer than 110 National Mark certificates have ever been issued, making this a rare recognition in the fine jewelry world. According to Ecksand cofounder and creative director Erica Bianchini, the mark—a maple leaf encircled by a "C"—represents more than certification. “We’ve been granted the privilege of putting that maple leaf on our products,” she says.
🔍 A Symbol of Values, Not Just Quality
For Bianchini, the mark reinforces Ecksand’s long-standing dedication to transparency, artistry, and craftsmanship. Since its founding in 2009, the brand has focused on ethical practices and local manufacturing. “This isn’t an afterthought for us. It’s part of our blueprint,” she adds.
The brand's award-winning Duel Wrap ring, available in 14k or 18k yellow gold with natural or lab-grown pavé diamonds, starts at $1,331.
🛠️ Fully Vertical, Fully Canadian
Ecksand controls every step of production at its green atelier in Montreal, where a 35-person staff handles everything from sourcing and casting to design and polishing. “They check everything—your casting process, your stones, your recycled gold, your customer journey,” says Bianchini.
Ecksand uses 100% recycled gold, sustainable platinum, and certified diamonds—GIA for natural, IGI for lab-grown (over 0.5 carat).
💍 Beyond Bridal: Expanding With Purpose
While once focused primarily on bridal jewelry, Ecksand is now moving into fine signature pieces with its hallmark French-Canadian elegance. “It’s a turning point,” Bianchini says, “and our team, half English-speaking and half French-speaking, is ready.”
