Australia’s high-end jeweler Linneys has unveiled its latest limited-edition masterpiece, a diamond-encrusted gold sculpture featuring the world’s happiest animal, the short-tailed quokka. This intricate sculpture, which is limited to just three pieces, showcases 2.99 carats of rare Argyle pink diamonds set in its hand, representing a stunning homage to this rare species.
The “Argyle Pink Quokka” sculpture is inspired by the short-tailed quokka, a species that only inhabits the coastal region of Rottnest Island in Western Australia. The pink diamonds embedded in the sculpture are sourced from the now-closed Argyle Diamond Mine, further elevating the piece’s rarity. This collectible treasure is valued at over 500,000 Australian dollars (approximately $340,000 USD).
The sculpture is crafted from 280 grams of 18k gold and rose gold, adorned with 3.39 carats of Argyle pink diamonds, along with 10.96 carats of white and Argyle champagne diamonds. The 18K rose gold leaves, set with pink diamonds, can be detached and worn as a pendant on a necklace made of 18K rose gold chain, which is also decorated with 0.62 carats of pavé-set white diamonds. Even the quokka’s ears are embellished with 0.40 carats of pink diamonds.
The Argyle Diamond Mine, located in the remote East Kimberley region of Western Australia, was a significant source of pink diamonds since it began operations in 1984. However, the mine closed in 2020, and these precious diamonds will continue to define the legacy of the brand. For decades, Linneys has been a select partner of the “Argyle Pink Diamonds Select Atelier,” and the “Argyle Pink Quokka” sculpture is now available for private viewings.
