Mercedes Abramo, the longtime head of Cartier North America, has stepped down after more than 16 years with the luxury brand. Abramo, who joined Cartier in 2008 as director of the company’s New York flagship, most recently served as the deputy chief commercial officer, a role she held during her final year with the company.

Notably, Abramo was the first American woman to serve as CEO of Cartier North America, where she made a significant impact. She reflected on her tenure in a LinkedIn post, emphasizing the importance of building and nurturing talent to reach business goals.
"Our role is to leave an imprint on the legacy of the maison, knowing that the creations of today will be the treasures of tomorrow," said Abramo. “This balance of modernity and heritage has inspired us to continually elevate the brand and create unforgettable moments for both clients and colleagues.”
Abramo's leadership has been instrumental in shaping Cartier’s position in the North American market, and her departure marks the end of an era for the brand. With her legacy in place, the luxury brand now looks to a new chapter.
