Limelight Diamonds Secures $11 Million for Major Retail Expansion – What This Means for the Future of Lab-Grown Jewelry!

Limelight Lab Grown Diamonds, India’s top lab-grown diamond jewellery brand, has successfully secured $11 million (INR 90 crore) in its latest funding round. The investment comes from a mix of prominent fund houses, respected brokerage firms, family offices, and the company’s promoters.

This newly acquired capital will be used to accelerate Limelight’s retail expansion, enhance its design offerings, and strengthen its operational infrastructure, allowing the brand to solidify its leadership position in the fast-growing lab-grown diamond (LGD) market.

Founded in 2019 by Pooja Madhavan, Limelight has rapidly established itself as an innovator in the lab-grown diamond sector. With more than 30 standalone stores and 30 shop-in-shop locations across over 35 cities in India, the brand has seen rapid growth and significant market penetration. Limelight’s fully integrated business model is supported by two major players in the industry—The Bhathwari Group, the world’s largest producer of LGDs, and The Emerald Group, Asia’s largest jewellery manufacturer.

Capitalizing on Industry Trends

As demand for affordable and sustainable luxury jewelry grows, Limelight is perfectly positioned to meet evolving consumer preferences. With rising awareness of lab-grown diamonds' ethical and environmental benefits, the LGD sector in India is growing at an annual rate of 15-20%.

Strategic Growth Plans

The new funding will enable Limelight to expand both its online and offline sales channels. The brand aims to capture a larger share of India’s $80 billion jewellery market by offering a broad selection of designer jewellery at competitive price points.

Founder’s Vision

Pooja Madhavan, Managing Director of Limelight, shared her excitement about the company’s progress: "This investment marks a crucial moment for the LGD sector in India, which is experiencing a transformative boom. The funds will help us accelerate our growth and reach new milestones. We are dedicated to disrupting India’s jewellery market by offering the largest variety of designer jewellery at attractive prices, with the ultimate goal of becoming a global leader in sustainable luxury jewellery."
