India is reaffirming its place at the heart of the natural diamond industry 💎, as the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) prepares to join a major ministerial roundtable in Angola on June 18.

The event, hosted by Angola’s Ministry of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas (MIREMPET), will unite top officials from diamond-producing nations like Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Sierra Leone, and the DRC. It’s a high-stakes gathering focused on protecting and promoting natural diamonds in the face of rising synthetic competition.
Representing India will be Shaunak Parikh (GJEPC Vice Chairman) and Sabyasachi Ray (Executive Director), emphasizing India’s critical role as the global hub for cutting, polishing, and exporting diamonds.
✨ The summit's highlight? The signing of the Luanda Agreement — a powerful joint declaration reinforcing responsible sourcing, community impact, and a united global message: Natural diamonds are rare, real, and meaningful.
GJEPC, with 10,700+ members, continues to champion transparency, traceability, and sustainable growth across the supply chain. India’s active participation shows it's not just about polishing stones — it’s about shaping the future of an entire industry 🌍.
