Audemars Piguet has acquired a majority stake in lnhotec, the manufacturer of components for many leading Swiss watch brands.
A statement noted that lnhotec, which is based in Le Locle, Switzerland, has long supplied parts to Audemars Piguet as well as its competitors. While Audemars will provide Inhotec with strategic and financial support, Inhotec’s precision factory will continue to operate autonomously under its own name and to work for current and future clients.
Alexandre Eme, who founded Inhotec in 2011, will keep a significant minority stake in the company and remain its CEO and chairman.
The investment “demonstrates Audemars Piguet’s commitment to preserving and strengthening both the Swiss watchmaking industrial ecosystem and its own long-term industrial independence,” the watch brand said in a statement.
