Art Deco Jewelry Captures Gatsby Era Glamour

· Designer

With Clarity’s new Art Deco collection celebrates an era when design was unapologetically bold yet refined and elegance met innovation.

“Its symmetry, clean lines, and architectural influences feel timeless, and I love how it balanced opulence with precision,” says With Clarity founder Anubh Shah. “When creating this collection, we were drawn to the glamour of Cartier’s 1920s pieces, the strong geometric forms of Jean Després, and even the sleek detailing of vintage Tiffany designs.”

The collection is fittingly timed, as the literary world celebrates the 100th anniversary of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby in 2025. It’s clear this American classic will always enthrall readers, Broadway audiences, and design enthusiasts, including jewelry lovers. With Clarity’s collection includes a

Shah says Gatsby’s story, New York City in the 1920s, and the art deco period in general were the “sparks” behind With Clarity’s Art Deco jewelry, which he describes as both classic and contemporary.

The collection features 11 signature engagement rings, seven wedding bands, 13 pairs of earrings, and two necklaces. Art Deco builds on other recent releases, W Signature and Wave, to evolve With Clarity into more of a storytelling jewelry brand, says Shah. While With Clarity wants to honor the past, Art Deco’s bridal pieces offer a modern twist that he hopes brides and grooms will connect with.

Leshna Shah, chief creative officer of the New York City–based company, notes that the Art Deco design team did an in-depth study of the era. “We were fascinated by how the movement manifested differently in architecture, fashion, and decorative arts over time. We then matched our findings with the presence of art deco in New York City, looking at when and how the city was most influenced by the style,” she says.

Empire earrings interpret the glamour of the Roaring ’20s through 5.5 cts. lab-grown diamonds and a choice of 14k ($4,160) or 18k gold ($5,110).

With Clarity translated art deco’s defining elements—symmetry, geometry, contrasting materials—into jewelry. The style attained its golden moment in New York during the late 1920s and early ’30s, a time when skyscraper like the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building were redefining the skyline. One of Leshna Shah’s favorite pieces in the collection, the Artisanne ring ($4,860), reminds her of the latter icon.

“Its four trillion[-cut] stones instantly take me back to the illuminated crown of the Chrysler Building at night, a view I cherished from my bedroom window, and one that became a symbol of ambition and beauty in my life,” she says.

Anubh Shah says his favorites include the Gatsby ring ($3,130), inspired by the grandeur of Rockefeller Center (another art deco landmark of New York), and the Eastern ring ($3,440), an homage to the enduring style of L.A.’s Eastern Columbia Building.

He’s also partial to the Marquee stud earrings ($2,170), which take cues from the New York’s Radio City Music Hall. And every detail of the Chevron necklace ($2,370), from the hexagonal diamond center stone to its sharp angles, reflect the art deco era’s glamour, he says.

Art deco highlights in cities other than New York provided inspiration for some With Clarity pieces: Bacardi earrings ($5,550 for 14k gold) captures the allure and ornate sophistication of the lobby in Havana’s iconic Bacardi Building, while the Guardian necklace ($3,840) get its bold look from the geometric forms of Detroit’s Guardian Building.

“When it came to naming the pieces, we wanted each one to carry a sense of story and place, much like the art deco era itself. Some names nod to architectural icons, others to design techniques or evocative French words that capture the movement’s sophistication,” Shah says.
