Zimbabwe VP Visits Hari Krishna Exports Promises Collaboration

· Industry News
Section image

About a week ago, Zimbabwe’s Vice President, General (Rtd.) Dr. Constantino Guveya Dominic Nyikadzino Chiwenga, visited Hari Krishna Exports’ facilities in Surat as part of his wider engagement with India’s diamond manufacturing hub. His delegation’s tour came against the backdrop of Zimbabwe’s stated ambition to move beyond rough diamond exports and build capacity in cutting, polishing, and value addition.

During the visit, the Vice President praised the precision and scale of Surat’s industry, while noting the ethical practices that have helped position India as the world’s leading diamond centre. He also reiterated Zimbabwe’s openness to Indian expertise, stressing that partnerships in training and skills development could create sustainable livelihoods back home.

Hari Krishna Exports’ founder, Shri Savji Dholakia, used the occasion to outline a plan to train 50 Zimbabwean youth each year in diamond cutting and polishing. For the trade, such initiatives signal a strengthening of India–Africa linkages, where resource nations and manufacturing centres stand to benefit from deeper cooperation.
