Why Colored Diamonds Are Dominating High Jewelry—And How They’re Set to Soar in 2025!

Colored diamonds are gaining unprecedented attention in the high jewelry sector for their rarity, dazzling brilliance, and significant investment potential. Recently, brands like Mouawad and De Beers have highlighted colored diamonds as the centerpiece of their new luxury collections, positioning them as the jewels of the future.

For example, Mouawad’s Sun on the Seven Wonders collection captures the essence of iconic landmarks across the globe, with yellow diamonds as the focal point. The collection's first chapter pays tribute to the grandeur of the Colosseum, featuring a striking necklace pendant with a 50.01-carat trapezoidal-cut yellow diamond and a 24.55-carat yellow diamond bracelet, both inspired by the iconic arches of the landmark.

Meanwhile, De Beers Jewellers has expanded its Forces of Nature high jewelry collection, adding a stunning ring with a 2.03-carat cushion-cut vivid orange diamond, complemented by brown rough diamonds, polished yellow diamonds, and brilliant-cut white diamonds.

The demand for vividly colored diamonds, such as pink, yellow, and blue, is also seen in Gyeongbok Jewelry’s latest offerings. A platinum ring featuring a pink diamond captures the growing appeal of these exquisite stones, adding a touch of elegance to everyday wear.

Despite market volatility, colored diamonds are expected to continue their upward trajectory. The Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF) notes that while prices of colored diamonds slightly dipped in the second quarter of 2024, these fluctuations are considered typical and minor compared to broader market trends. Yellow, pink, and blue diamonds have experienced minor price declines of 1.7% and 0.3%, respectively.

Experts like Marcel Herszaft, a data provider for the FCRF, believe the market for colored diamonds remains stable and predict that prices will hold steady in the coming months. Given their rarity and the growing consumer appetite for unique, statement-making jewelry, colored diamonds are poised to be a key player in the luxury market, offering both beauty and lasting value.
