Stephen Barnes, who became president of the Independent Jewelers Organization (IJO) in August 2023, is now officially the owner of the Southport, Connecticut–based group. 🔑
He succeeds Jeff Roberts, son of IJO founder Bill Roberts, who had owned the organization since 2008.
🧠 Barnes brings 35+ years of jewelry retail experience, including:
- Running his family’s jewelry business
- Consulting at the Edge Retail Academy
- 25+ years involved with IJO operations
📈 His vision for IJO includes:
- Expanding educational programs
- Enhancing technology & marketing tools
- Building strategic partnerships to support independent jewelers
