Saul Fraiman Bids Farewell to Diamonds After Six Decades of Glamorous Design

Saul Fraiman, a legendary jewelry designer whose creations have graced countless red carpets, is officially retiring after nearly 60 years in the diamond industry. Known for his passion for diamonds and impeccable craftsmanship, Fraiman leaves behind a glittering legacy that has shaped the world of fine jewelry.

A Second Retirement

This marks Fraiman’s second retirement. He first stepped back from the industry in 2017 after a long tenure with the Julius Klein Group, where he had worked since 1994. However, his love for the craft brought him back. In 2019, Fraiman was invited to join the Grandview Klein Diamond Group by Moshe Klein, a former principal at Julius Klein, where he continued to design exquisite jewelry.

“I’ll definitely miss the business,” Fraiman shares. “But I’ll be back to visit. I’m only a couple of hours away.”

A Career Built on Passion and Hard Work

Fraiman’s journey began in 1965 with a charm manufacturer, followed by a role with the legendary diamantaire William Goldberg, whom he considers a mentor. He launched his own business in 1968, forming the Rolling Stone Diamond Co., later renamed Fraiman & Associates. Specializing in fancy-shaped and fancy-color diamonds, Fraiman built a reputation for discretion and excellence.

“I put my heart and soul into everything I did,” Fraiman says. “Hard work never frightened me. I’d get up at 5 a.m., work until midnight, and then catch a plane to Antwerp or Israel. If you love this industry, it doesn’t burn you out—it excites you.”

Even in his final days at work, Fraiman’s passion for diamonds remained undiminished. “On my way into the office, I saw a jeweler working on a phenomenal blue diamond for [Grandview Klein],” he recalls. “I couldn’t help but suggest how it should be set.”

A New Chapter

In retirement, Fraiman plans to spend more time with his family and continue his role as vice president of his local volunteer fire department. He also serves as a first responder, EMT, and ambulance driver.

“I have other interests at this point in my life,” Fraiman says. “I like giving back and taking care of people.”
