Roseate, a fine jewelry brand founded by Pam Cloud, former Tiffany & Co. executive, promotes its saltwater cultured pearls as "traceable." Unlike the traditional, complex supply chain image, Roseate's approach to traceability is quite straightforward—they source directly from the pearl farms.
The brand works with top-notch suppliers for their pearls: Paspaley in Australia for South Sea pearls, Kamoka Pearls in Tahiti’s Ahe Atoll for Tahitian pearls, and Kakuda in Japan for akoya pearls. This commitment to traceability is further emphasized by Cloud's visits to each farm to personally inspect their sustainable practices.
Cloud shares, "In a world focused on sustainability, our material is inherently sustainable." The health of the pearls reflects the health of the waters they come from, and this direct connection is something Roseate values deeply.
The latest addition to the collection will be a line of akoya pearl jewelry, featuring beautiful silvery blue pearls, a unique departure from the more familiar white with pink or green overtones. These pearls will be paired with different clasps and offered in various lengths.
For the upcoming holiday season, Roseate is highlighting its Nature collection—mother-of-pearl dragonfly and butterfly brooches, along with its Wands, five amulet-style pendants themed around water. Each purchase of these pendants contributes 20% to nonprofits like the Billion Oyster Project, Pure Earth, and Conservation International, supporting clean water initiatives.
Looking ahead, Cloud plans to expand the brand’s offerings by partnering with more pearl suppliers, including the potential addition of freshwater pearls, as the company begins to consider wholesale opportunities. The focus remains on finding partners who can help tell the unique story of each pearl, emphasizing sustainability and responsible sourcing.
