
Michael S. Krzemnicki, the esteemed director of the Swiss Gemological Institute (SSEF), will be honored with the Antonio C. Bonanno Award by the Accredited Gemologists Association (AGA) in early 2025. This recognition celebrates his groundbreaking contributions to the field of gemology over a career spanning more than 25 years.
A Legacy of Excellence in Gemology
Krzemnicki has led SSEF, the Basel-based lab renowned for its expertise in analyzing colored stones, diamonds, and pearls, with distinction for over two decades. His contributions extend beyond laboratory work:
- He is a lecturer at the University of Basel.
- He supervises research in gemology in partnership with Swiss universities and international research institutions.
- In 2017, he was awarded the Gemological Excellence Award by the Swiss Gemological Society.
Celebrating Innovation and Leadership
Krzemnicki will formally receive the Bonanno Award during the AGA’s dinner-dance on February 5, 2025, in Tucson. Before the gala, he is scheduled to speak at the AGA Gemological Conference, where he will share insights from his extensive experience in gemology.
