On September 25, viewers of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert saw Jane Goodall wearing a striking gold and diamond pendant. This piece wasn't a memento from her conservation journeys but part of her newly launched jewelry collection with Brilliant Earth, an ethical diamond brand.
The Jane Goodall Collection, unveiled as part of the “Rethink Everything You Know About Diamonds” campaign, includes earrings, rings, cuffs, and the leaf pendant Goodall wore on Colbert. The collection’s designs reflect Goodall’s connection to nature, featuring a botanical motif inspired by the banana leaf, symbolizing her beloved Tanzania and the natural world she has long championed.
Each item is crafted with recycled gold and lab-grown diamonds, aligning with Brilliant Earth's commitment to sustainability. Goodall noted, “Our shared commitment to sustainability, impact, conservation, and ethical practices made this collaboration meaningful.” The designs serve as reminders of the positive environmental impact achievable through conscious consumer choices.
Beth Gerstein, Brilliant Earth's cofounder, called the collaboration a “natural fit,” noting Goodall's lifelong dedication to conservation through the Jane Goodall Institute. The collection, available online and in Brilliant Earth’s 40 showrooms, directs 10% of proceeds to the Institute, supporting habitat conservation, women’s health and education, local livelihood initiatives, and environmental leadership.
Through this collection, Goodall hopes to inspire others to appreciate and protect the planet.
