House of Harlow Debuts New Collection Era

· Discovery
Section image

I have a pair of House of Harlow hoop earrings that I must have bought over 15 years ago. They’re the perfect size, plated in rose gold, and bear the brand’s signature geometric, tribal-esque motif, a nod to the bohemian glam it represents. I was in my Kitson phase, the iconic (now closed) Los Angeles boutique—that’s where House of Harlow, which was founded by Nicole Richie, made its debut in 2008—and happily consumed whatever they had on tap. I still wear those hoops consistently, proof that the perfect-size pair never really goes out of style, and a bit of detail can make the right piece stand out in a crowd.

Now House of Harlow has debuted a new line of demi-fine jewels dubbed the Harlow Collection. It’s right up the same alley as Richie’s original line—bohemian, glam, worldly—but made in 14k gold and sterling silver, some pieces also with Italian leather, with prices starting at $195 and going up to $2,295. The release represents a new era for House of Harlow—elevated offerings, designed to appeal to the thoughtful shopper.

The jewels are trend-friendly—a double finger ring, a collar necklace, fringe earrings—but speak to a growing demand for designs in sterling silver and two-tone combinations. Items like the bold Arch ring, with a wide, substantial silhouette in sterling silver (also available plated in gold), have a timelessness about them that promises longevity, not to mention the Arch hoop earrings that are sure to transcend time.

Each piece features that signature etching akin to the original House of Harlow pieces—the same as on my hoops—which makes them a seamless pairing with jewels consumers might already have, and makes for a foolproof display at retail stores. “This brand celebrates a person who moves through the world and finds pieces that feel unearthed rather than purchased, and that holds the spirit of adventure and unstudied elegance,” Richie says.
