Grown Brilliance’s Lab-Grown Diamond Jewelry Focuses on Unique Cuts and Superior Quality

During a recent video call with JCK, Akshie Jhaveri, founder and creative director of New York-based lab-grown diamond jewelry brand Grown Brilliance, became captivated by a newly finished 2.8-carat diamond ring fresh from the studio.

“We created a very cool Dutch marquise ring for a beautiful couple,” Jhaveri said, referring to a marquise-cut diamond with step cuts, giving it a more kite-like silhouette than a traditional marquise.

“We custom-made it for them. The bride-to-be wanted a Dutch marquise diamond. She told her fiancé, ‘I know this is a very old cut, and you really can’t find it.’

“To get that Dutch marquise in a mined diamond, you would have to pay a hefty premium,” Jhaveri added. “And even then, you wouldn’t get the quality you want. It might be slightly yellowish or of lesser quality. We grew and cut this diamond specifically for the couple. Only lab-grown diamonds can achieve this level of customization.”

Five years ago, when the lab-grown diamond industry was still in its infancy, many growers emphasized their products' environmental friendliness and affordability. Today, attention has shifted toward the exceptional cuts and consistent quality of lab-grown diamonds.

These two elements shine in Grown Brilliance’s new high jewelry collection, which debuted in June last year and features 65 pieces ranging in price from $8,000 to $200,000. The collection continues to expand with more styles.

This high jewelry collection, named after cities Jhaveri has visited—ranging from Amsterdam to Kyoto—includes rings, bracelets, earrings, and necklaces. Each piece features dazzling white diamonds with unique cuts, such as the London ring, which may look like a simple oval engagement ring, “but the shield-shaped diamonds flanking the sides give it a truly special and regal look,” Jhaveri said.

Grown Brilliance's necklaces are bold and dramatic, such as the Monaco necklace, which boasts over 157 carats of uniquely shaped diamonds inspired by the opulent halls of the Monaco Royal Palace. Another standout piece is the Cusco necklace, featuring over 152 carats of diamonds, designed to evoke the "dazzling lights" of Peru's ancient city’s "Plaza de Armas" at night, creating a breathtaking and romantic atmosphere.

Jhaveri also noted that the diamond quality in Grown Brilliance’s high jewelry remains consistent, typically graded DEF. “Because we control the growing process, we ensure we don’t produce yellow or lighter-colored diamonds,” she said.

This focus on exceptional craftsmanship and high-quality lab-grown diamonds is setting Grown Brilliance apart in the luxury jewelry market.
