This month, I’ve been deeply immersed in a special report for JCK about pearls, and I’ve come across some absolutely stunning creations. Among them, a particularly beautiful piece designed by Sean Gilson for Assael stands out.
This exquisite ring showcases a breathtaking 5-carat pear-shaped diamond, but what really sets it apart is the colorful, rare, natural saltwater pearls that encircle the center stone. The most striking feature? The pearls themselves serve as the prongs holding the diamond in place.
Gilson explains that his original idea was to have pearls surrounding the diamond, but the concept of having the diamond float amidst a sea of pearls offered a more unconventional and alluring design. After several attempts to find pearls of the right size and color, he carefully selected natural pearls from Assael’s collection, ensuring a seamless fit around the diamond.

Crafted in platinum to reduce the visibility of metal and maintain durability, this ring is a truly unique blend of elegance and innovation.
