Birks Group president and CEO Jean-Christophe Bédos is stepping down from his position at the end of the month.
Bédos has been at the helm of the Canadian luxury jeweler for the past 13 years, Birks said Tuesday. He will remain with the company in an advisory role throughout the leadership-transition process.
The decision is part of Birks’s broader strategy to enhance stability and drive sustainable growth for the company, it added.
Niccolò Rossi di Montelera, the company’s executive chairman of the board, will serve as interim CEO while the company searches for Bédos’s replacement. Board member Davide Barberis Canonico will be interim president and chief operating officer.
“Under [Bédos’s] leadership, the company developed the Birks product brand, developed partnerships with renowned global brands, and was able to navigate through some difficult times, including the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Rossi di Montelera. “A leadership transition is an important step as we refocus the company’s priorities.”
