ALROSA has released its 14th Annual Sustainability Report, showcasing a landmark year for the company with the achievement of full carbon neutrality in diamond mining — a global first. The 2024 report outlines ALROSA’s progress across key ESG pillars, including climate action, regional development, employee welfare, and responsible governance.
ALROSA has released its 14th Annual Sustainability Report, highlighting major achievements for 2024 in environmental protection, regional development, industrial safety, and human capital. Most notably, the company achieved full carbon neutrality across all diamonds mined — a global first for the industry — thanks to advances in scientific research on kimberlite’s carbon absorption potential.
The report also details the company’s long-term Climate Strategy, approved by the Supervisory Board, which targets a 9% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2035. In 2024, ALROSA invested 1.2 billion rubles towards climate initiatives and saved over 1 billion rubles by enhancing operational efficiency, significantly cutting fuel consumption and emissions.
Other highlights include the rollout of a five-year Sustainable Development Program (2025–2029), which expands focus areas across the entire ALROSA Group. The company also increased its social investment to 3.2 billion rubles — up 11% from the previous year — including 1 billion rubles allocated to employee health initiatives.
For the first time, ALROSA’s sustainability reporting underwent public assurance by the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), adding an extra layer of credibility to its disclosures.
The 2024 report follows Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards and UN SDG principles, reaffirming ALROSA’s commitment to ESG best practices and national socio-economic goals.
