Amanda Anisimova Serves Tiffany Style At US Open

· Discovery

Perhaps you caught a glimpse of it? A kind of glimmer around Amanda Anisimova during her triumphant comeback tour at the U.S. Open tournament? It was certainly on view at the semi-finals match on Thursday night as she defeated Naomi Osaka to advance to the finals against Aryna Sabalenka.

And certainly, there was the golden glisten of hard work and victory, but there was also a considerable amount of Tiffany jewelry responsible, too. Since her first day on the courts at Arthur Ashe, the American born player has been wearing a full suite of the Tiffany HardWear collection while playing.

Anisimova has worn the same Tiffany & Co. earrings, necklace, and bracelet the entire tournament.

The pieces—earrings, a pendant, and a bracelet—are marked by classic links defined by their gauge-like accents and an elegantly industrial take on the traditional piece. The current HardWear pieces—increasingly popular across generations, note them around the necks of politicians and hanging from the lobes of private school girls on the Upper East Side—are inspired by a design in the Tiffany archive from 1962. The inspiration behind them was New York, primarily the city’s resilience and strength. Transformation was on the moodboard.

If you know Anisimova’s path to this Open, it’s easy to see why she might have chosen pieces loaded with this particular significance. Her streak on the courts at Ashe represents a great comeback story after a difficult loss at Wimbledon. Her jewelry worked well with that narrative. It also, of course, could be seen as bringing her luck, always at least a small part of a win when playing against the best in the world. And always a big part in why anyone chooses to wear certain jewels at certain times (or every single day, for that matter).

Will she be wearing her full Tiffany set when she plays Sabalenka in the finals? Of course she will. Players are nothing if not superstitious—we miss you Rafa—and if it has been working so far, and it has, why mess with it. Her opponent, reigning champion Sabalenka, wears her own fair share of jewelry, making this final perhaps the most gold studded in recent history.
